You look at websites and see the final product. The perfect 'About Me' section. It looks clean, crisp, well thought out, and put together. But you never see all of the drafts, and all of the rewrites that went into making the 'About Me'.

When I was young, I was very closed off and shy. As I got older the more and more I was open to talking about myself. I got to a point where I would just drop my whole life story onto someone. A "trauma dump" was one of the terms that my partner told me after we talked for hours. It was just so easy to open up to them and just lay everything out. It was easy since there was a back and forth. They would ask questions, I would give answers and then I would ask questions and they would answer. It was so much easier.
However, the 'About Me' is just you talking about yourself. It's like an interview. You walk in to the interview, someone says "Impress me" and you have to tell them about yourself. Of course this is a much more relaxed situation, but the stress can still be there. It's the first thing that people are going to learn about you, so it's pretty stressful and it's a lot to think about. How personal do you get? How much detail should you give? What do you want everyone to know? What do you want to keep private? How long should it be? So many factors to think about. You want to have people like you, and hear your story and try to form a relationship with the people who read about you.

So what does it take to make an about me? Essentially you just try to be personal, and try to relate to your audience. Talk about things that happened in your own life. Don't lie though, one it's just rude and disrespectful, but also people always find the truth. So, just be truthful to your audience. That creates a safe place. Safe spaces on the internet can sometimes be hard to find. It's important to create that space because it allows for the best creativity! If you want to collaborate with your audience and get real criticism and feedback about your content then having a safe space allows for those real connections. I want to work hard to make sure that people feel welcome and included in my content and especially in my published works.

I am so excited to create and share everything. Not only my books, but also some of my own photography, like the images in this blog post! I hope that the about me section that I wrote will help connect me to my audience. I can't wait to meet everyone and talk about my works! I know I am still knew to all this, but I am so excited to learn! It's going to be a really exciting journey and I look forward to every second of it!
